Warner Bros. bringing movies to Facebook

Like it or not, social networks are here to stay. From Twitter to Facebook, it’s getting hard to get by in the world if you’re not with either of those two networks. Aside from all the pros and cons of social networks a recent development may make these sites even more addicting, the addition of streaming movies.

Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page funny vigilantes in “Super”

Kick-Ass brought us the first self-aware skewering of the superhero genre, but it won’t be the last.  James Gunn, director of the horror comedy Slither, returns with Super – which looks to be a pastiche of violence, dark comedy, and Adam West Batman comic graphics. Continue reading

Trailers that were better than the film

The art of a trailer is an unappreciated one.  If done properly, you get a sense of what a film’s about without having the entire narrative spoiled.  If done really well, it will make you think a bag of turds is full of cute puppies.  Now maybe some of the films on this list aren’t “a bag of turds,” but you know what I mean when I refer to the trailer for… Continue reading

Don’t forget to tip your foley artist (short video)

And earlier today, Amazon announced that it, too, would now be operating a streaming service for all of its Prime members. Does Netflix stand a chance now that it has competition? Especially if that competition is cheaper? Continue reading

Blood spills over the edge of your screen in ‘I Saw the Devil’ trailer

I Saw the Devil (dir. Kim Ji-woon) was a 2010 film you might have missed last year, but you’ll want to find. The film highlights the kind of stylized violence and gore audiences raved over when director Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy hit the scene (it even features Oldboy lead actor, Choi Min-sik) Prepare yourself for a bloody good time.

Billionairess to save Paul Thomas Anderson films

Paul Thomas Anderson is the Oscar-nominated director of 2007’s There Will Be Blood.  So it would make sense to expect great things of his two new projects–a Scientology-themed drama and the adaptation of a drug-addled detective novel. However, as is the case for many film projects, the tales lacked financial backing and were in danger of ending up in development limbo–until one woman stepped in.
