“Attack the Block” the new “Goonies”?

Attack the Block is one of the current stand-out films of the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) and with good reason: a film co-written and starring Nick Frost (Ed from Shaun of the Dead, who also co-wrote the hilarious Paul) about inner-city kids battling invading aliens looks like great fun. Big Daddy and Hit Girl were the shining stars of 2010’s Kick-Ass and the trailer released for Hanna shares similar qualities to Hit Girl’s violent badass tendencies

Full trailer for Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours”

There has already been a teaser trailer for 127 Hours, so this is the first full length trailer.  I would like to persuade you though: if you’re a die-hard Boyle fan, just wait to see the film.  If you’re genuinely curious about the film, go right ahead.  I just feel that trailers give too much and there’s something to be said for going into a movie mostly blind.  It’ll feel fresher if you haven’t already seen it on a tiny laptop screen a month ago.

More faux-trailers from Grindhouse receiving full length treatment?

Over at Rope of Silicon, they’ve posted a re-vamped version of the Grindhouse fake trailer, Hobo with a Shotgun.  If you didn’t see it, you’re probably in the U.S. as it was a trailer screened mostly in Canada.  The original trailer fit the Grindhouse experience with a ridiculous title that matched its content:

Just like Machete, the trailer has birthed a full length film.  The trailer for the feature has been released – featuring Rutger Hauer as the hobo with a shotgun.

127 Hours Trailer: Danny Boyle’s Latest

The director of Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and Slumdog Millionaire has a new film coming out in the fall starring James Franco, 127 Hours.  It’s based on the experience of Aron Ralston, the guy who had to amputate his own arm after becoming trapped under a boulder in Utah.

Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan Trailer

imdb.com has the release date set for December 1, 2010.

And here I thought the film might be a bit boring from the synopsis and the trailer is more f*cked up than I could have imagined.  Guess Aronofsky won’t break into the comedy genre anytime soon considering this path of trauma that is his filmography.*

*Comments aside, love his work.

“Illegal” Machete Trailer Released!

Over at Ain’t It Cool News, Harry Knowles is saying that Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo stopped by to give him an “illegal” trailer for the upcoming release of once-Grindhouse trailer, now full length feature, Machete.

Evidently the plot of the film is in line with the current anti-immigration fervor in Arizona, so given the political resonance, the trailer is a message for Arizona.

Here was the fake trailer put together for Grindhouse:

Soon after Grindhouse, Rodriguez began making a full movie from the Machete trailer.  It will be released September 3, 2010.

The cast for the film is ridiculous: Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Tom Savini, and Lindsay Lohan make up this Mexploitation of awesomeness.
